Department of Eagles // No One Does it Like You
Metronomy // A thing for me
David Vandervelde // Nothin No
Young Coyotes // Hell is
Grizzly Bear // Two Weeks
Apollo Sunshine // Breeze

Ok, here is another gem. I am covering both ends of the VWolf taste spectrum with SSION and Peak Fraeans, so if you dont like either of these than you are just... stupid.
Thoroughly take in the magnificence of the picture above and then listen to the masterpiece below.
SSION // Street Jizz (Ruff Ian Levine Remix)
Oh and check out the cinematic wonders at their MYSPACE.

I kept on looking into Freak Paeans and apparently he changed his pseudonym to Peak Fraeans. I also managed to dig up his Myspace page. He just put out another tape on top of the rerelease of his old tape on Caff & Flick. The new "tentrackmulticolouredsuperlimitedcassette" was released on the Swedish record label, Klorofyll Kassetter. It's a 100 cassette run at http://www.klorofyllkassetter.se/ for about $8.50 + shipping. Now I just have to get a cassette player...
Some of the mystery is gone but I still dig it... cassettes...how bad ass it that.
Check out the Myspace... it has a few tracks off the new cassette.
Labels: freak paeans, Peak Fraeans

I have a new fascination. It feels so intimate, so personal. Touchingly imperfect. Tender, quiet, and sincere. Freak Paeans is completely anonymous. He released a tape "Now When I Wear An Anchor" in 2005 and Caff & Flick tracked him down and convinced him to let them re-release it as a free CD.
If you like Freak Paean's you may like my other anonymous songwriter fascination - Perfume Genius.
Freak Paeans // What Have I Always Held Forth?

"They used to be the art-punk-prog-chaos collective Cerberus Shoal, but they ditched their electric instruments, went into hiding for a while, and now play all acoustic… upright bass, banjo, harmonium, accordion, acoustic guitar etc etc, and they all sing and harmonize on the songs." -Young God Records
I recommend "Heavy D" and "Hangman" off their Myspace page.
A beautiful rawness. I like this trend... I think all artists should go into hiding and make great soulful music...

My friend Cassi was meeting with some lady from Valslist.com in Hubbard Hills, IL and I came along and just wandered around the neighborhood with my camera. I got stung by a bee on the toe in the process. It hurt.
